‘Theatre of Wonders’, Short Frame by Frame Animation

designed for Benjamin Pollocks Toyshop - 2020

The lavish centrepiece of Pollock’s 2020 theme ‘Theatre of Wonders’, this 12-frames-per-second Instagram animation is a ‘hide-and-seek’ ballet merging the traditional imagery of the ‘love chase’ with contemporary issues of social inclusion and diversity. Visual sources centre on Baroque opera and the Palace of Versailles while the craft animating process, in which each frame is a still artwork in itself, nods to Walt Disney and the Silly Symphonies.
